Learn to love competition.
When I was playing college football we always loved to say "compete and make each other better."
Then I enter the "real world" and everyone gets a trophy and competition is this terrible thing. We are a highly negative community because before I share my personal outlook on competition, everyone says "it is not a competition." Actually, everything is a competition and if you believe others wise you are lying to yourself.
That job you want... you have to compete against other candidates to get it
Those women you want... you have to compete against other men for her
That client you want... you have to compete against other business owners for them
That life you want... you have to compete against your fears
That money you want... you have to compete against your beliefs
In 1 way or another, you are fighting against something to get it. However, competition in the arena of life being health, wealth, and or relationship is a great thing. You should make it a must for each area of your life.
In the summer of my second year at college, I stayed close to the campus so I could train for the upcoming football season. It was one of the most memorable and best times of my life.
I lived in the "football house" and I was surrounded by men that wanted to train and be the best at football too. All summer I was able to train with them. That was great. Nevertheless, the best part was my trainer.
She was a 5'5 beast of a woman. Her grit and courage made her 6'7. She was a dominating person which I loved because she was all about that action. We had major wars of competition and she blew me out of the water during the beginning. Having her by my side pushed me to excel mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Competition is all about helping you and those involved with being, doing, and becoming more than what you can do alone.
Let's compete and make each other better!
Bertrand Ngampa's Money Game Plan
Looking ahead I know I will hopefully get a big tax return so I can throw that at my credit card debt. Also, I am looking at a business to start so I can focus on really putting the foundational pieces to it so in 1 or 2 years it will be a great income coming in.
Not only for me but my family too.
I am thinking of saving $5000 and then moving to debt. I am losing 10% of my money by having debt and I am only gaining .06% in my savings account. Don’t get me wrong, having money in your savings brings a certain level of relief that is unexplainable. I love it.
However, long-term debt is killing the total amount of money I can use to invest in businesses. My key focus is paying off that credit card and starting a service-based business.
What I Am Currently Reading & Listening To...
I just finished The Way of The Reaper. I added the author to my Dream List of Podcast Guests. Soldiers have a different view of life, love, and “killing.” Also, soldiers carry a split personality. Having to be a warrior that goes out and wants to kill the enemy and also a non-lethal man when he returns to the civilian world. Not to mention he must find purpose which is being part of a community bigger than himself.
After finishing that book I haven't found my next book yet. I am thinking of a book about stillness or being more thoughtful about life. In this season I am learning to say no and delay gratification (As my mom would always tell me to wait for your hot lunch.) Meaning no instant gratification as of right now.
Health
I am sore like no other. But I love it. Still focusing on building my legs and running. I took 2 days of “rest”.
